Down the stairs on the ground floor was large stall after stall of cheese and meat vendors, with many whole chickens hanging upside down and hams on display. Huge rounds of cheese were available to sample. Everything downstairs smelled like an old fashioned butcher shop.

This apartment was four flights up without a lift. Bathroom was small, modern and tucked under the loft. The first 24 hours the warmest place in the apartment was in the bathroom. It took awhile for the old type of registers to warm up the place.

Looking down the hall toward the kitchen, the refrigerator had it's own little cubbie right outside of the main kitchen area.

We watched a little tv at night, which most nights had Italian game shows on that often had some sort of singing associated with them. More family oriented and focused on children more than our game shows and entertainment does.

The cooktop got a work out while we were there. After a week of eating out every day we were ready to eat in. Under the microwave was a very compact clothes washer. The old stove didn't work, but held a HUGE butcher block we used for slicing the wonderful breads we ate.

This kitchen was very small, but adequate. We were even supplied with a radio, but we didn't find anything with music to listen to or news we could understand.

New Year's Eve 07 we were hoping to get into the Boboli Gardens that morning, but found that they were not open to the public that day. Our alternate plan was then to walk up beyond the old city wall and get some elevation similar to what the Boboli provided and a view of the city from that perspective. We were eventually successful.
